Terminal crimping is one of the main connection methods for today’s high-current connector products. The outstanding advantages of ultrasonic welding are excellent contact performance, energy saving and environmental protection, easy operation, etc., and it is widely used in industry.
The popularity of fast charging for new energy vehicles has increased the requirements for wiring harness connections. Under high current conditions, the temperature rise value of the connection is a hot spot in the industry, and the contact resistance value has the most direct impact on the temperature rise.
Terminal Crimping Technology
Crimping uses a specific crimping tool to apply a certain amount of mechanical pressure at the contact point between the cable and the terminal to cause appropriate plastic deformation at room temperature so that the two are tightly combined and form a reliable electrical connection.
The process connection forms of cables and terminals mainly include welding, crimping and winding. The crimping process has reliable mechanical strength, excellent electrical performance and process operability suitable for mass production.
Ultrasonic Welding Terminal
Ultrasonic welding has the advantages of no welding thermal deformation, low energy consumption, low pressure, low temperature, and fast welding speed.
An important advantage of ultrasonic welding is that the temperature is relatively low, which is only equivalent to 1/3 or 1/2 of the melting point of the metal. The original properties of the metal wire can be retained; in addition, the lower temperature also means that the metal of the thin sheet can be welded to the thick metal without causing damage to the thin metal. These are very important in wire harness production.
